Maffia + KFM Expanded :: 2Blue’s Light Transmission — free streaming now on Rizostream
2025 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the Maffia Illicit Music Club — the first season ran from 1995 to 1996 — the cultural and sonic laboratory that between the late Nineties and the mid-2000s redrew the boundaries of experimental music, electronic music and club culture in the heart of Emilia. A unique relational ecosystem, capable of connecting artists, producers, DJs and thinkers in a network of projects that responded to no market logic whatsoever, but to one alone: the continuous germination of ideas, sounds and visions.
To mark this anniversary, and alongside the publication of “Tutte le mani del Maffia” (NUKFM027, 1 May 2026) — the first historical and critical reconstruction of the entire Maffia/KFM universe — Rizosfera-NUKFM has decided to make some of the fundamental records produced within the orbit of the Kom Fut Manifesto available for free listening on the Rizostream platform. The Kom Fut Manifesto was the operational and productive arm of the club. Records that are sold out, out of print, impossible to find: today free, for anyone who wants to listen.
2Blue — Light as Sonic Matter
If Fattore Sonoro was the point of departure, the territory to be explored, Light Transmission (KFM014, 2003) is its natural, necessary evolution — the moment in which the 2Blue project reaches a full and conscious expressive maturity. Enrico Marani and Luca ‘DJ Rocca’ Roccagliati deepen their research here with greater audacity, pushing the boundaries between electronic abstraction, sonic painting and crossmedia experimentation even further.
The record carries within it two tracks destined to remain in the history of the Maffia/KFM catalogue: Brainstream, with text and voice by Afro-American poet Ursula Rucker — a central figure in the international spoken word scene, already a collaborator of 4hero and The Roots — and 1984, with the voice of vocalist dj Dave Watts of Funda-mental, a historic project of the British industrial-hip hop scene. Two international presences of the highest order, who were not mere featured artists but a recognition that 2Blue’s research spoke a language comprehensible and attractive to kindred global realities.
The covers of both 2Blue albums — Fattore Sonoro and Light Transmission — are the work of painters Andrea Chiesi and Stefano Ricci: not illustrations, not graphic design, but pictorial extensions of the sound itself. This continuity between image and music is not decorative but structural — a choice that says much about the working method of the Kom Fut Manifesto, where contamination between disciplines was not an ornament but the very heart of the project.
Light Transmission is an album of electronic abstractions painted with extreme taste: a sonic document that travels through time without ageing, still capable today of opening deep and unexpected listening spaces.
The record has been sold out and out of print for years. To mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Maffia Illicit Music Club, Rizosfera-NUKFM is making it available for free streaming on the Rizostream platform. Listen here:
