Flash and Demons were live performances by the Network Ensemble, held in 2018 on the 8th and 31st anniversary of respectively the fastest and first market crash triggered by algorithmic trading: Flash Crash (May 6, 2010) and Black Monday (October 19, 1987). Flash was performed at Design Museum, London and Demons at Spektrum, Berlin. Flash Demons collects the two performances, which are introduced by Obsolete Capitalism in an essay entitled “Counter-memory surplus”. The release comes as a limited-edition custom-made silicon 2GB USB, vacuum-sealed in screen-printed sleeve. It contains forty-five minutes of financial algorithmic collapse rendered into music.
