NEWTONES is the first album ever to be released by Adi Newton. Starting from the title, the author plays in a refined way between the ES of intrapsychic instances and the ‘new tones’ of music which describe the atmospheres and the memories transmitted by the unknown forces of our unconscious. If AMMA is his most pictorial work, NEWTONES is definitely his most ‘cinematic’ album. This collection of exclusively instrumental pieces composed on several occasions between 2014 and 2022 is surprising because the common thread is the almost classical creation of abstract soundtracks as if each piece were a single small film, with its own narrative and specific idea of movement in time. In Clock DVA’s Digital Soundtracks (1992), Adi Newton opened his ‘inner cinema’ to suggestions of a spy-fantasy soundtrack while in NEWTONES the strong element is the autobiographical, nostalgic, oneiric introspection, which provokes the memory and the unconscious. The hypnotic digital element of the compositions is mitigated by the lyricism of live piano, clarinet and sax melodies. There are eleven original and unreleased compositions of ‘inner cinema’ that NEWTONES offers us for a total of 73:10
