Rome, 24th April 2017,
Dear P*, as promised I am sending you the work in progress about my readings on debt. As you may notice there are many sections that need to be implemented. I do count on your judgement and suggestions. Speak soon.
Lapo Berti.
These few lines written on 24th April 2017 show the last research Lapo was focusing on before his sudden and painful passing in December 2017. The theme of debt, its militant critic interpretation and essence and the issues concerning the relationship between Foucault and Ordoliberal and Neoliberal theses were at the centre of his interest and his attention. The proposal by Foucault’s philosopher and scholar, Mauro Bertani, of an economic and philosophical article for the scientific and philosophical journal Aut Aut (n.376/dec. 2017/ Ripartire da Foucault. Economia e governamentalità) had offered him the opportunity over the past few months to investigate these issues further. The text presented here, together with that article, are therefore the last works conceived and written by Lapo Berti. We offer readers and scholars of economics an essay still in its non-definitive form and without any mediation or specific editorial work on our part. Just over one year from his demise we consider the publication of his writings the best way to commemorate what we regard as a model Master of life and thought. (Introduction/Genealogy of Debt/E.book/Rhizonomics).
