DMSTFCTN PRESENTS ‘GOD MODE (EP.1)’ AT UNSOUND (PL)
FRIDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2022 – 17.15 – MORE INFO CLICK HERE
God Mode (ep. 1) is an interactive lecture-performance by artist duo dmstfctn, set in a 3D simulation increasingly used to train deep-learning computer vision systems for real-world tasks. In God Mode (ep. 1), an AI destined for deployment in a cashierless store is trained to recognise items on the shelves of a simulated supermarket, while delivering a monologue about its condition, co-written with language model GPT-3. Aspects of the training method are turned into game mechanics that let the audience modify the environment via phone, welcoming interaction as a means to explore the characteristics and test the limitations of this process. Features an original soundtrack by artist Hero Image.
