In February 2023 – Massimo Zamboni writes – we were invited by RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera to the studios in Lugano to record a series of songs with the underlying theme of emigration, with the intention of spreading them among the numerous Italian communities residing abroad, offering them a series of musically articulated thoughts on the meaning of departure, uprooting, new belonging, and language. ‘Andare via’ is the result of those days.” Those songs, those significant and universal “musically articulated thoughts,” are now also an album: “Andare via. Reflections on a relocated Italy” which we will have the pleasure of presenting at Studio 2 of RSI on Monday, March 11th at 8:30 pm. The evening is hosted by Gian Luca Verga and broadcast live streaming.
Massimo Zamboni announces the new album on his own FB profile: “Dear friends, at the end of next week an unusual surprise will arrive, a CD produced in collaboration with Radio Svizzera Italiana, entitled ANDARE VIA. Don’t ask me why, but I don’t want it to be released in stores, on platforms, or streaming; and I’m not eager for promotion. Let’s take it as it is, as an intimate thing: there will be a link for those interested, or a face-to-face meeting after my concerts or readings. You may already know some songs – but not with these acoustic arrangements – and there will be two covers. On Monday 11th we will present it in preview at the auditorium of RSI in Lugano, then it will be available. But we will give you more details soon; and meanwhile, let’s start presenting you with a first image.
Massimo Zamboni Biography
In 1982, together with Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, he founded the group CCCP-Fedeli alla Linea, which staged what they called “pro-Soviet punk”. The CCCP experience ended in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. A few years later, CSI, Consorzio Suonatori Indipendenti (which would reach the top of the record charts) and Consorzio Produttori Indipendenti were born, producing dozens of albums. Since 2000, Zamboni has composed several solo albums, the latest of which is La mia patria attuale. He has created numerous soundtracks for film and theatre and published several books for various publishers (La nave di Teseo, Einaudi). L’eco di uno sparo, Nessuna voce dentro, Anime galleggianti, La trionferà, Bestiario selvatico. He collaborates with the weekly magazine La Lettura.
