May 19, Salerno, Palazzo Fruscione, H. 8 pm : TeZ live set + book presentation ‘L’elettronica è donna’ (Claudia Attimonelli + Caterina Tomeo) – «Racconti del Contemporaneo» event curated by Alfonso Amendola

The 7th edition of the RACCONTI DEL CONTEMPORANEO review curated by the Cultural Association TEMPI MODERNI takes place in Salerno from April to June 2023 in the spaces of Palazzo Fruscione and is divided into three sections, “Listening – Words/Notes/Sounds and Visions.” Within the “Words” cycle, on May 19 at 8 p.m., TEMPI MODERNI announces a meeting/book launch entitled “L’elettronica è donna” (Electronics is Woman) with Claudia Attimonelli (University of Bari) and Caterina Tomeo (Rufa University Rome). The evening will be introduced by Racconti Contemporanei’s scientific director Alfonso Amendola (University of Salerno). The talk will be followed by a performance by TeZ (9 p.m.). An interdisciplinary artist, musician and maker, TeZ presents his “Indiscreet Music,” a live exploration of acousmatic music ranging from visual spectral synthesis (Virtual ANS) to hybrid electroacoustic, digital and analog electronics with custom instruments. A dreamlike sonic excursion to be heard in the dark.

From the Tempi Moderni website, in connection with Racconti del contemporaneo:

April-June 2023. Here it is, the seventh edition of The Tales of the Contemporary, signed by Modern Times. An edition that has as its centrality three main souls: word, sound, and vision. A trismegistus proceeding that -starting from the powerful photographic narration of «Sguardi» by Lelli and Masotti- we wanted to decline once again among talks, seminars, invitations to listen, concerts, film reviews and performative actions. A magnificent triptych of words/images/sounds that will inhabit Palazzo Fruscione moving along an ideal line that connects different creative worlds and visions: from Leo De Berardinis’ absolute theater to women’s electronic music, from Bob Wilson’s technological theater onward to Franco Battiato’s imaginative cinema, from the foundation of poetry to Pina Bausch’s powerful Tanztheater, from John Cage’s infinite sounds to Frank Zappa’s experimental daring. L’ elettronica è donna. Media, corpi, pratiche transfemministe e queer

A collective volume to explore the galaxy of sound and visual electronic languages from a transfeminist, queer and posthuman perspective, “L’elettronica è donna” (Electronics is Women) offers a choral and cross-cultural reconstruction of the importance of women’s contributions forgotten by historiography in nearly two centuries of technological, artistic and musical experimentation. A real and virtual journey ranging from the invention of the first algorithms to the practice of deejaying, from live performance to video art, from multimedia installations to sonic art, from artificial intelligence to techno, electroacoustic and experimental music marked by the female and LGBTQI+ factor. All contributions, true to the transdisciplinary and intersectional spirit, come from authors who reflect, practice, study and operate on the border of contemporary electronic languages.

From the Rizosfera website, TeZ’s Bio:

Maurizio Martinucci (aka TeZ) is an Italian musician and interdisciplinary artist, living and working in Amsterdam, who has collaborated with, amongst others, Adi Newton, Scanner, Kim Cascone, Saverio Evangelista, Taylor Deupree, Fabio Orsi, Sonia Cillari, Chris Salter, Honor Harger, Luca Spagnoletti, Joe Drive and Domenico Sciajno. He uses technology as a means to explore perceptual and synesthetic relationships between sound, light and space. TeZ is a veteran of electronic and experimental music and his early releases with M.S.B. and DOSERO date back to the early 90’s. Since 2010 TeZ has been a permanent member of Adi Newton’s seminal British band Clock DVA and a regular contributor with The AntiGroup. His most recent music project PRAGMA marks TeZ’s return to his origins in the fringes of a more visceral Industrial, Ambient and Cosmic music. TeZ’s solo live electronic performances, augmented by Ambisonics spatial sound, are voyages in uncharted sonic territories through field recordings, hypnotic analog sequences and electro-acoustic manipulations. His last sonic work with Rizosfera is Clock DVA’s Noesis, released in 2023, in a splendid polymedia guise (box with usb, cd, vinyl, booklet, t shirt).
