LE FORBICI DI MANITU’

Founded in Reggio Emilia in 1983 by the enigmatic multi-instrumentalist Manitù Rossi and responsible for about twenty albums for esteemed international labels (Staalplaat, Moloko +, Snowdonia, Silentes, etc.), Le Forbici di Manitù feel at ease in the most disparate sonic idioms, from post-industrial noise to singer-songwriter, from electronic minimalism to lounge jazz, moving effortlessly between rock, pop, electronica, and cross-genre contaminations.

In the lineup, completed by Gabriella Marconi (flute, glockenspiel, etc.) and Vittore Baroni (lyrics), they have collaborated over the years with various protagonists of the Italian alternative and experimental scene, such as Enrico Marani (T.A.C.), Daniele Carretti (Offlaga Disco Pax), Fabrizio Tavernelli (A.F.A.), Ignazio Lago (Gi-Napajo).

Among the group’s recent projects are the colored vinyl 7-inch “Margherite” (Sussidiaria), which celebrated the group’s fortieth anniversary in 2023, the double album “Incredibile?!” (Sussidiaria, 2022) with homages and Italian versions from the repertoire of the Incredible String Band, Tinnitus Tales (Sussidiaria, 2016), a triple album on the theme of tinnitus as a professional disease of rock operators, featuring the collaboration of around fifty musicians and visual artists. Coming out in 2024 is the book+CD “Le isterocomiche avventure di Martino l’Uterino” (WWW Edizioni / Rizosfera), created in collaboration with the artist and illustrator Emanuela Biancuzzi.
