LE FORBICI DI MANITU’

Founded in Reggio Emilia in 1983 by the enigmatic multi-instrumentalist Manitù Rossi, Le Forbici di Manitù are responsible for about twenty albums on prestigious international labels (Staalplaat, Moloko +, Snowdonia, Silentes, etc.). Le Forbici di Manitù are at ease in the most diverse sonic idioms, from post-industrial noise to singer-songwriter, from electronic minimalism to lounge jazz, moving effortlessly between rock, pop, electronic and cross-genre contamination. The line-up, completed by Gabriella Marconi (flute, xylophone, etc.) and Vittore Baroni (lyrics), has over the years included various protagonists of the Italian alternative and experimental scene, from Enrico Marani (T.A.C./Spectral Unit) to Daniele Carretti (Offlaga Disco Pax), from Fabrizio Tavernelli (A.F.A.) to Ignazio Lago (Gi-Napajo). The latter, together with Rossi and Baroni, is the trio responsible for the CD album included in the volume of Martino l’Uterino, not simply a soundtrack to the events narrated in the book, but a true transmedial integration that gives voice to the character and extends the narrative universe (including unpublished texts), a unique and rare example of an “audio-graphic novel” with a total fusion of images, texts and sounds.
