Speakers will include Federico Montanari, Unimore lecturer and discussant, Paolo Davoli and Gabriele Fantuzzi, editors of the volume Naked Punk, Giovanni Catellani, author of the book ‘Philosophy of the Sex Pistols’ and curator of the afterword to ‘Naked Punk’.
Aesthetics and Languages of Punk as the lecture revolves around the artistic genealogy of the primordial punk movement, which was born in the second half of the 1970s in New York and then exploded in London a few years later. Plurality is a must when talking about punk because from the outset the movement connotes itself as a ‘meta-movement‘ capable of absorbing, while negating them, both the artistic movements that temporally preceded it and the avant-garde movements of the early twentieth century.
Since its emergence within youth pop culture, punk has copied, reworked, and then spit out forms, contents, and functions of a certain kind of art, from the French Maledictism of the late nineteenth century onward, which combined art and styles of esistence.
