Andrea Chiesi is one of the greatest contemporary Italian painters, gifted with a very refined pictorial technique and an incredible musical sensitivity that led him to collaborate with C.S.I. and Officine Schwartz, among others. Grown-up between comics and the punk movement, influenced by the industrial music and the master painters of the Italian Renaissance, Andrea soon found his own exclusive way of painting, his own pictorial forms and colour. It is difficult to be indifferent in front of his “battles” of bodies and colours, his “industrial sublime“ – almost sacred – of the abandoned factories in his paintings and drawings. Impossible not to be charmed also by his hyper- realism of landscapes suspended between shadows and lights creating an ethical challenge between nature and artifice, and between the slowness of painting and the speed of sound.

Since the Nineties, Andrea Chiesi has organised exhibitions, published catalogues, and won several prizes. He regularly exhibits all over the world: Beijing, New York, Monaco, Genoa, Bologna. Many of his works are noteworthy: L’opificio, a paradigmatic work produced with Officine Schwartz (Kom-Fut Manifesto, 1991) and L’ Apocalisse di Giovanni (Kom-Fut Manifesto, 1998) with texts by Giovanni Lindo Ferretti and Luca Beatrice. More recent are the excellent solo exhibition ‘I Luoghi Ultimi’ at Palazzo Rasponi delle Teste (Ravenna, 2019) and his book Eschatos (Silvana Editoriale, 2019).
