NO ORDINARY RACONTEUR :: DIMIDIUM ORACULI :: RELEASE DAY
Two records, out today in Europe. Each is the enigma of the other.
Today, 6 November 2026, the two new Armcomm Europe albums are released in Europe: No Ordinary Raconteur, Michael Somerset Ward’s first solo album, and Dimidium Oraculi, the first full album together by Adi Newton and Michael Somerset Ward.
The first gives birth to the second, as a dark mirror sends back a darker image. Dimidium Oraculi is half of the oracle: Michael reworking Adi, Adi reworking Michael.
NO ORDINARY RACONTEUR
Michael Somerset Ward, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who came up through Sheffield’s post-punk scene, was in Clock DVA from December 1981 to June 1982. His album is a cinematic concept record on mortality, memory and the passage of time. Adi Newton’s voice runs through it: on Delphic Response, and on the four parts of Half-Life, the prose poem he wrote for the album. Around Michael: Glenn Gregory (Heaven 17), Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire), Matthew Bourne, Gino Robair, Dean Honer, Karl D’Silva, David Lewin, Martin Archer, Charlotte Keeffe.
Cover: Non-Euclidean Portrait of Michael Somerset Ward, acrylic on canvas by Adi Newton, 2026.
DIMIDIUM ORACULI
12″ mini-LP, vinyl, 33rpm. Four tracks, twenty-seven minutes. No titles anywhere on the package: only Adi Newton’s paintings, from two series, Mirrored Head (his self-portraits) and Non-Euclidean Portrait of Michael Somerset Ward. Each series returns three times, on the discobag, the label and the four-page booklet. All of it inside the Armcomm Europe Folder Notturno Nero, logos printed in silver, assembled by hand, copy by copy.
