S\u014cON :: <\/strong>Noise :: ARMCOMM :: 2019<\/h2>\n

It is once again available at the Rizosfera online shop: the debut album by S\u014cON<\/strong>, titled Noise, released in 2019 on Adi Newton’s ARMComm label. The record is extremely rare and serves as a prelude to the second album, Actions Made Audible, released on the Electronic Sound label in 2025, which is also available at the Rizosfera online shop.<\/h2>\n

S\u014cON<\/strong> Is the Collaborative project of Adi Newton DVA \/ TAG & Jack Dangers \/ Meat Beat Manifesto. The name derives from the Japanese word for Noise \/ Sound \/ Discord and also infers a connection to time. This Unique Project & Album is unlike any other due to the combined interaction of 2 very individual and pioneering Artists who have over the decades produced consistently challenging and unique works. The debut album NOISE<\/strong> is comprised of sequenced rhythmic and experimental Electronics and Avant Garde sound \/ noise pieces. Recorded and Produced at Jack Dangers TapeLab Studio San Francisco in October 2018 utilising EMS SYNTHI 100 SYSTEM \/ Korg PS-3300 Poly Modular \/ Roland 700 & 100 Systems plus Ambisonic water harp recordings and other Analog & Digital devices and sound sources.<\/p>\n

Adi Newton<\/strong> formed Clock DVA<\/strong> in 1978, another Steel City product making music with English synths and tape loops. Prior to Clock DVA, he\u2019d been in various experimental Sheffield outfits with members of Cabaret Voltaire and future founders of The Human League. The band\u2019s first album, the cassette-only \u2018White Souls In Black Suits\u2019, was released by Throbbing Gristle\u2019s Industrial label<\/strong> after which they signed to Fetish Records<\/strong>, alongside 23 Skidoo and Bush Tetras. The first line-up split in 1981, since when Clock DVA has been a sporadically active but abiding project for Newton and various collaborators to explore aspects of electronic music in always interesting and unexpected ways. There was a lavish six-disc vinyl boxset \u2018Horology\u2019, released by Vinyl On Demand in 2012, and more recently \u2018Noesis\u2019 in 2023 and 2024\u2019s \u2018EXT Vol 1\u2019 saw Clock DVA touring again to enthusiastic audiences.<\/p>\n

Jack Dangers<\/strong> first encountered a recording studio in the early 80s when he found himself helping fellow Swindonites XTC at a cheap facility in the town. His first band, Perennial Divide, was produced by Andy Partridge and in 1988 he formed Meat Beat Manifesto<\/strong> and released the groundbreaking masterpiece \u2018Storm The Studio\u2019, before signing to Play It Again Sam and putting out two era-defining 12-inch singles, \u2018Helter Skelter\u2019 and \u2018Radio Babylon\u2019, which sealed MBM\u2019s reputation as a prime mover in the electronic music underground, with unmatchable beats and bass. Meat Beat Manifesto toured with Nine Inch Nails, and later signed to Trent Reznor\u2019s Nothing Records, while Jack has remixed David Bowie, David Byrne, Silver Apples, Depeche Mode, MC900FT Jesus, Mickey Hart and many more. He has also released more than a dozen albums as MBM and half as many again as Jack Dangers.<\/p>\n
