    Zafer writes : “This work – The Future Is Already Here” – was created during Covid 19 pandemic for Dystopia Sound Art Festival that took place at Akbank Sanat between April 9-June 15, 2021 What constituted the point of departure of this work was a sentence by William Gibson, which he first wrote in a personal correspondence and then used, with a slight change, in his novel Neuromancer (1984): \u201cThe future is already here. It’s just unevenly distributed.<\/strong>\u201d To reinforce the claim that the future is now, and that dystopia, which establishes its reality through a dark image being projected into the future, has become our truth today, I have produced 84 different variations based on this quote from Gibson. By having 68 participants from different countries read these variations in different languages and creating 313 different sound recordings, I have de-composed THE FUTURE IS ALREADY HERE. Of course, I do not think that <\/span>8:46<\/a> minutes of listening time is enough to approach the \u2018present\u2019 from a different angle or to escape the darkness that we are currently imprisoned, but I wanted at least to point to such a possibility through our ears.”<\/span><\/p>\n
