Rough Trade writes : \u00ab”La voce del castoro\u201d (the voice of the beaver) is the first album of the Italian painter and illustrator Stefano Ricci in collaboration with the young musician, photographer and video-maker Ettore Dicorato, released on vinyl alongside a 44-page book. The record stands as an example of \u201csonic geography\u201d whereby the ethereal, marshy world of Pomeranian beavers from the north of Germany are evoked mixing jazz and dark-noise improvisations with field recordings of the fauna surrounding the Peene river and of the dams in Quilow in proximity of the Baltic Sea.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cMusic is not the privilege of human beings\u201d: this album graciously explores the beavers’ magical world through muddy swamp-jazz, mysterious murmurs and hypnotic noises. The soundscape is complemented by an accompanying book reproducing 26 original cyanotype drawings and photographs by Ricci and Dicorato. Evoking a sense of wonder in the listener and the reader, the sonic and visual worlds created by the artists help to interpret the unique Pomeranian \u201csonic geography\u201d.\u00bb<\/p>\n
