MASSIMO ZAMBONI :: L’ORIZZONTE DEGLI EVENTI :: CD :: SOUNDTRACK :: RADIOFANDANGO :: 2005
ROCKOL REVIEW : “This is not the first time Massimo Zamboni has composed a film soundtrack. In the past, the former C.S.I. guitarist had in fact set music for the films ‘Benzina’ by Monica Stambrini, the documentary ‘Passano i soldati’ by Luca Gasparini and ‘Velocità massima’ by Daniele Vicari. And it was precisely for the latter that Zamboni created the soundtrack for ‘L’orizzonte degli eventi’, the second work by the young director from Rieti. The disc contains sixteen tracks, including ‘Pied beauty’, a song sung by Fiamma, inspired by the poem of the same name by Gerard Manley Hopkins and already featured on Massimo Zamboni’s album, ‘Sorella sconfitta’.”

MOVIE PLOT
Max, thirty-five years old, is a nuclear physicist. He did not follow in his family’s footsteps, did not become a lawyer, did not want to deal with construction sites and bribes and does not want to hear about it even now that his father is dead. He works on an important experiment called Helios in the physics laboratory located inside the Gran Sasso and is appointed head of the experiment. This is the chance of a lifetime for Max, the ultimate test, but the competition at international level is fierce. With him on the project is Anais, a French physicist with whom Max has a romantic relationship. Anais is in love, but clear-headed and critical of him to the point of not hesitating to corner him when she realises that he has altered the results of the experiment. Max loses everything, his reaction is violent and dramatic and he suddenly finds himself catapulted to the surface of the mountain where nature is still harsh and rugged and the few human beings who inhabit it lead a mute and stone-hard existence. His encounter with Bajram, a young Albanian shepherd, finally forces him to confront himself. The event horizon (movie title) is the ‘one-way’ surface of a black hole; after passing it, the laws of gravity dictate that it is impossible to turn back, impossible to escape the black hole’s powerful gravitational grip. The black hole is a body whose enormous gravitational field captures everything, even light, that comes close enough to it (i.e. passes the event horizon of the black hole).
